Developing ideas for film and theatre
Before a film is made or a performance takes place, there is an idea. Turning that initial idea into a realistic creative task requires imagination, research, planning and decision-making.
This course introduces students to the process of taking an initial idea and exploring how it might become a piece of creative work.

Practical learning
Students develop their own ideas through a series of creative exercises. They will explore different possibilities, research their subject and begin to shape their ideas into something that can realistically be developed and produced.
The emphasis is on developing the idea rather than rushing to the finished product.
Who is it for?
Ideal for students who need to develop confidence in generating and developing creative ideas for film, theatre or other creative tasks. It can also support students working towards their own Leaving Certificate creative projects.
Course outcome
Students finish with a clearer creative concept, an understanding of how to develop it and practical experience of turning an initial idea into a structured creative proposal.
